I went with my father to his work this morning cause I needed to get some stuff printed off & Mom lets me use her printer at his office for my printing work. When we got home around 1pm I came into the living room to see Shiloh trying to tear apart something cream colored. I didn’t think to much of it when I saw what my mother was doing. My mother was crocheting with my cotton that I had bought to make my pouch. When I asked what she was making she informed me that she didn’t like my Granny Square, so she took it apart & she was crocheting it again. WHAT!!!!!!!!!! That was two weeks worth of work that she undid in four hours. I sat down on the footstool in shock & anger. That is when I started paying attention to what Shiloh was tearing apart. It was Jessica’s present. I was furious. I asked Mom how he got got the piece. She said that he had been up in my chair that morning. I asked why she didn’t make him get down. She said that she didn’t feel that it was her place. HER PLACE! He is her dog. Shiloh ripped the present apart & I have to start all over. My father is trying very hard to keep the peace between Mom & I. I have no bloody idea what the hell she was thinking. She ruined my crochet & let Shiloh ruin Jessica’s present. I am just so pissed that I have needed all day to calm down.

Originally published at Amarantine.

I have to have a break, so you all get an entry. Lots & lots of photos again. I promise after April 15th I will be back to giving you worded entries also. Photos are just quicker right now since I am only home for half a day.

**Remember if you want the full size image to click on the pic!**

Adorable Animals — Every where else it is Furry Fridays, I give you Adorable Animals (or at least when I can get the pics taken, lol).

Sunbunz going crazy over getting petted. This cat is crazy. If you are outside she thinks you have to pet her. She will stand on anything to be within reach of your hands. Then she will purr so loud that you think the vibrations would knock her off whatever she is standing on. I have a video of her rubbing & purring, but I haven’t figured out how to put on Amarantine yet. She is the most lovable cat I have ever seen.

This, of course, is my baby. MacIntosh Corwin Termaine! I spent 15 minutes trying to get him to look at me so I could take the picture, lol. He isn’t very photo-loving. He may be the biggest love ever, but he doesn’t like to have his pic taken, lol. A couple of minutes before this he was playing with Candi, or in his mind trying to figuratively tear her ear off, lol. They never hurt each other. Though it sounds like they are actually are trying killing each other.

My Crocheting

You see that? That is why I never get to finish my projects. Mom always finds the completed items before I get finished. So you guessed it, I am not working on the hand warmers anymore. These work even better. So I guess I will just have to use my beautiful yarn for something else. Luckily, I already have a wonderful idea of what to use the yarn for. So far so good. Hopefully, I will actually be able to keep it fresh & actually complete the idea, lol.

The new idea is to make a 17 x 17 inch pouch that will hold my QSnap frames (the hoops that hold my stitching). Or, at least, that is the current plan. I am making the crochet squares in the pattern of granny squares (my favorite), that are four clusters, one chain, & two chain in the corners *for Jessica*. Granny Squares crochet up real quick for me so I am hoping I can keep my interest in them for the length it takes to make the pouch. I have already bought the fabric (a pale pink) to line it with.

The So-So Big News

Yeah, that is a wedding band on my left hand. Now before you all start giggle & singing the wedding song. Or get mad cause I didn’t invite you or tell you. I DID NOT GET MARRIED! OK? It is simply my way of trying to get the crazy males to stop bugging the *bleep* out of me. If I had any interest in dating any of them then I would show interest in their flirting. I am not interested but they can’t seem to get that through their head. So Jock came up with this. He isn’t dating either & he still wears his band (he is divorced) & no one brothers him so he suggested one for me. So far it is working wonders. Yeah, I know a little extreme, but I told myself when I was 18 if I hadn’t gotten married by 30 I wasn’t going to anyway. Well, I turn 29 this year, so I am just doing it a little early. Hmm…should make a post about my old goals & explain my weirdness. Might be interesting.

So that is it for my free day. Ta-ta for now. Hopefully I will manage to squeeze in a few more of these before the 15th of April. Which reminds me if you live in the US.

Instead of writing up paragraphs telling you all what has been going on, I am just going to make a list. Hopefully, this will explain where I have been & where I will be at for the time being. It may be after April 1515 before I can get back into the full swing of the internet blogging. I will just have to wait & see what my body will allow me to do, ok?

Desi fell off the school’s jungle gym & sprained her shoulder & wrist. She is doing better, but Jock needed to have help around the house with her so I had to stay with them for a couple of days.

Ashling (one of Desi’s friends) parent’s are splitting due to spouse & child abuse & the mother & Ashling are sheltering at Desi’s Grandmother’s house.

Dad’s office is getting a booming business so I have been down there almost everyday helping (not working) in any way that I can. Even if it is just reading off names to mother as she processes the tax returns.

My body has decided that since I fell down that it hates me & just sends me into one pain filled day after another. So some days I haven’t been up to doing anything besides cross stitch of lay in bed all day. Plus though my ankle is doing better, it still hasn’t healed all the way so I have to hobble around.

My seizures are acting up again. So I am also getting slammed with more of those every day. I know it is just the stress of Tax Season, but until after April 15 there is nothing that is going to ease it.

Here is the big one: My parents can’t stop fighting. If they would would just stop the screaming & fighting I swear my stress levels may just settle down & I may be able to get a handle on things. Can I leave? No. Can I tone them out? No. They drag me into it. No matter how many times I tell them no.

I am the research department (joking) for my father (that is how I earn my magazines & xstitch supplies). So if he wants something done online I usually do it for him. At the moment, I have about 75 things to look up. The problem is he doesn’t know where to even start to look for them. Every day I have to listen to him gripe me out cause I haven’t found them all for him. Not to mention the fact that I am also supposed to help mom with the household chores & help her with processing the tax returns, work on my cross stitch commissions, & last but not least fill my other responsibilities that are too numerous to count here.

Those above reasons are why I haven’t been online very much where you all can find me. I try to pop in to the BBS boards, but I am not there very often. Even now I am typing this on the fly. I have to get dressed & run out the door. I am so tired & I hurt so bad today I can’t even think straight. My mother doesn’t know what to do. She understands, but she doesn’t know how to help. The pain killers from the doc don’t work. Aw well, my life is pain & it has been that way since 1991. Anyhoo, If I have the time tonight when I get home, I have a surprise for you all. I have pictures for the BBS board, but Melissa has to see them first.

Originally published at Amarantine.
I used to be a member of the Cross Stitching Community here on LJ, but I got banned for a stupid reason. One of the mods thought I made a post asking about Growth Rings & the mod thought I was asking about the scanned copy I gave you all, when I wasn't asking that. So I just went ahead and created a new account with the username of whitestitch. So you won't be seeing me around the cross stitch community anymore. I will be there under the whitestitch name & that account will have most of my cross posted from Tiger Whispers Stitching while this one is the posts that are cross posted from Amarantine, like always.

I have tried to make sure all my friends are now my friends at whitestitch but if I have missed any of them, please don't be shy. Well, I have enough problems walking with my seizures & pain so we take the elevator. Well, the Church elevator has something wrong with it & if you don’t watch it the two floors don’t meet & so there is usually a step up or down the elevator shaft. Well, when we were leaving work the stupid elevator didn’t meet & there was about a foot to a foot & a half. I have this horrible memory problem due to my seizures & whatever the doctors can not find in my head. So I forgot all about the elevator problem. Well, I fell down the foot to a foot & a half to the bottom of the elevator floor. So now I have a badly sprained right ankle (which my parents are worried might be fractured), a contusion on my left knee & shin, a banged up right wrist, a forehead & nose that looks like some one hit it with a baseball bat & my left shoulder & upper arm feels like it has been hit by a sledgehammer. Well, my wrist hurts so much I can’t stitch. I can’t sleep because of the pain. I am going crazy. My parents are telling me that if it doesn’t get better soon I will be making a trip to the hospital. That is not going to be fun.

::::EDIT::::

Just returned from Family Medical Urgent Care in Republic where I got 5 X-Rays plus a prescription for some strong ass pain killers. Found out that it isn’t broken just a really bad sprain. The shocking thing is that it only cost $149 for the whole thing. If I had gone to the bloody emergency room it would have been in the thousands. So I have to stay off of the ankle for the next seven days & baby it. I am so happy that it isn’t broken. I was so worried.

Originally published at Amarantine.
The kit is from Pinn-Stitch {http://www.pinn-stitch.com}. This was the first time I have ordered from them & though I did purchase skeins instead of using the floss that came with the kit it wasn’t because the floss was bad. The floss was DMC which is the only kind I usually use. The problem is that the strands were only 18 in long & that is way to short for me. I start with the loop method & after folding the floss that only left me with 9 in of floss. I normally use about 36 in folded in half to create 18 in of usable floss. Why do kits not realize that people do know how to work with longer strands. Aargh, just my irratation.

Originally published at Amarantine.

You all know that I complete Counted Cross Stitch on commission & that I hope eventually to be able to get some done before the commission, lol. But I also know how to crochet. Well, I hate big crochet projects, but I adore real small quick projects. Well, Jessica made some hand warmers that looked very good & I thought that they might help with the pain that my hands get. Sometimes they hurt so bad that I can’t type or stitch & that is horrible. So today we went & bought Sugar’n Cream Stripes Cotton Yarn for me to make my hand warmers. My mother made me a belt out of this color & I fell in love with it. So I knew I had to use it. Wanna see? Of course you do:

I am going to use a smaller hook & cotton for mine. So mine are going to come out completely different. Like normal. I never know how to play by the rules, lol. You want to see what they will look like completed? The following image is from the creator’s website & is linked to the instructions.

I like multi-colored things & so I just hope that I will be able to finish these. If I can’t then I am seriously thinking about sending the cotton to Jessica & seeing if she will make them for me, lol.

Jessica’s Surprise

I am friends with Jessica. We met in the QBee & then she had to quit for personal reasons. Well, she was in my list for presents & though Desi didn’t pull her name out for the Christmas round she is getting hers now. Well, she will as soon as I get it done. Only hers will be different then the others. Everyone so far has gotten theirs on 14-count Aida cloth & Jessica is getting her on 28-count Evenweave. I have been wanting to change over but didn’t want to start out with a huge size project so when I finished with Jem’s key chain I figured I would make Jessica on the 28-count to make sure I liked it. So far I love it. Wanna see some previews? Since you can’t tell what it is yet & Jessica’s already knows the colors I am not passwording this post. But I probably will the next ones that show Jessica’s present.

28-count Evenweave

Ok, I am working on 28-count cloth. The ladies at Cecilia's {http://www.ceciliassamplers.com} told me that since I was so used to working with 14-count that 28-count would be a easy step for me to start on even weaves. So far they are correct. I like it a lot better then I did the 18-count I made the Boo Ornament (pics as soon as I get back home) on. Anyhoo, my question is. How do you stop it from fraying so fast. I got some beautiful Monoco (I believe) from Charles Craft & I would like to use it, but the small pieces I am using to make a keychain fray out so fast I am in a run to get the key chain finished, lol. Am I going to have to either sew the ends or use fray stop (I hate the feel of fraying chemicals). I don't really want to put masking tape on my beautiful fabric. I thought about making a think paste out of my washable elmer's glue (water & glue) & paint it on the pinked ends to seal the edges, but I thought I would get your all's opinions first.

Thanks ever so much in advance.

I am hosted through Dreamhost & I honestly have no idea how to transfer domain name from GoDaddy to Dreamhost. I really like the idea of hev in the domain name, but .com, .net are both taken. I just can’t think of any other name that goes with me. I enjoy tigers, but if I put that in my domain I will feel that I need to put a tiger in all my designs. But hevtiger.com would be awful cute & if I got Louise to give me permission to use her beautiful tiger that she pixelled for me as a mascot. See it below:

I don’t know, I am still taking suggestions for it. If I do it, the domain will be just for my blog & qbee quilt. Nothing else. I will keep tigerwhispers.com for my stitching store. I still like the domain too much to give it up, lol.

Oh, see the new theme!!! It is fixed-fluid. The content area will flex depending on your screen size. I am really liking this theme, so you may keep seeing it with different colors & textures.
Cell Phone Dependence?

Taken from the Springfield News-Leader Monday February 02, 2009 edition:

Is there such a thing as cell phone etiquette?

I was tickled at the opinion piece on Jan. 12 by Greg Bock regarding how his movie viewing pleasure was disrupted at Hollywood Theaters due to teenage boys texting and playing games on their cell phones.

I could not agree more that people use their cell phones at socially inappropriate times. In this case, movie theater management should have stepped in. He says he told an usher, so what did the usher do?

And by the way, when did it become appropriate for store clerks to yak on their cell phones while exchanging money with customers? What ever happened to “Have a good day?” This happens all the time at gas stations. And no, the customer is not always right. If you are on your cell phone while you are placing an order at a sit-down restaurant then you are being rude to the server. Very rude.

I have a rising sense of disgust at our growing dependency on cell phones. I even get annoyed with myself at times. I guess this is the price we pay for having cell phones, the so-called “convenience” factor, but we really should have more boundaries on where we use them.

There is nothing more annoying than having your cell phone go off as you are working, checking out to buy groceries (I do not answer at these times) or just busy living life. Especially when we are confronted by people who think our cell phones are attached to our … backsides and question us on why we didn’t answer our phone at the very exact minute it rang.

I would like to encourage everyone that when you are using your cell phone to be aware of those around you. Set your phone to silent if you do not want to be disturbed. And callers, if someone does not answer their cell phone it probably means that they are busy. That is what voicemail is for.

Thanks to Greg Brock for echoing what so many of us already think.

Parents should set some basic ground rules for their children’s use of their cell phones and take away their cell phones at the movies. There are previews with the no cell phone use picture, but obviously this rule is ignored by many.

People should really think twice about using their cell phones in stores where I can hear all of their personal business. Respect your privacy and mine.

Cell phones, I love them & I hate them. I need mine yet at the same time I wish I could throw it out the door. I got my first cell phone when I started college in 1998. I got it in case I had a problem driving to & from college which was a 30 minute drive for me. My parents thought it would be a good idea since I had only been driving for about nine months at that time. I didn’t get my license until I was 18, I didn’t want it nor did I see the reason to have it up until then. Cell phones in my opinion should only be used when they are needed. I only use mine if I am alone, if I need something or someone, or if I know that the person I am going to be talking to is not busy. If I am eating, in a theater, or anyplace that is a place where common curiosity is to be quiet I have my phone on vibrate. Now in the mall, I have it on ring, but if I am checking out, talking to someone, or the like, I hit a button & the phone ignores the call & it goes straight to voicemail. Now I admit that if it is my mother then I usually will ask the person that I am with if they would mind if I answer the phone, but I do my best to get off the phone as fast as I can. I do not talk on the phone while I am driving (or didn’t when I could drive, stupid seizures). If a clerk or cashier decides to talk on the phone while checking me out or helping me then the manager will be called or a letter will be written to the manager with date, time, & the person’s name. Trust me, I know just how to write the letters too. I do not stand for rudeness from anyone.

My big problem these days is children with cell phones. Explain to me why children ages 6 & up need cell phones? They don’t need them. There is no reason for them. Desi is nine, she has a limited phone for emergencies only. You want to know the numbers hers will call? Jock, me, & 911. The reason she has it. Her biological mother has threatened to kidnap her once she finds her. that is the only reason she has it. It doesn’t do anything besides dial those three numbers. That is the only type of cell phone children need. They do not need texting, ringtones, instant messaging, or all the other fancy stuff. Heck, I don’t even have that stuff on my razor. Yeah, I could but I am not going to pay the extra costs of it.

What do you all think of our cell phone dependence these days? You all have my opinions on it, what is yours?

Originally published at Amarantine. I love this.
<?php the_ttftext('The Doctor'); ?>
I had my yearly doctor appointment on Thursday which is normally a day full of stress & anxiety anyway. I hate going to the doctor cause my anxiety, stress levels, blood pressure always sky-rocket when I have to go. Let me put it this way. When the nurse took my blood pressure, it was 100 over 147, that isn’t good. When the doctor took it halfway through the appointment it went down to 97 over 87 which is closer to normal for me.

Then when I told him about the fact that some days that I am in so much pain that I want to punch people just for looking at me, he actually gave me a stronger pain medication with the warning that I am not allowed to give it to myself. My mother dispenses it to me so that there is no risk of my pain getting used to it or me getting addicted to it. It comes from the codeine(sp?) family. My mother is very happy & I am so-so about it. I have lived with pain everyday for the past three years, so this isn’t a huge deal.

Next when mom asked about disability tags for the cars, the doctor shocked the daylights out of me when he told me that if we would bring the form to him then he would fill it out since I am still having problems walking & my entire right side likes to go “dead”. Which he says is either a brain or spine problem. He is thinking it is a brain problem since I have other problems dealing with my brain. He is also wondering if I have Fibromyalgia. Which if that is the case then I am really not happy. Supposedly I have six of the eight of tigger points for the pain. So now we have disability placards for both Mom’s car & Dad’s truck. Since I can’t drive I didn’t see the need to get one for my car, lol. So this appointment was a good appointment this time.

Oh, almost forgot. I lost 7 pounds last year. For me, that is a lot. I never lose weight. My body doesn’t let weight go no matter what I do to lose it. I have tried everything except surgery & I won’t do that. My father was really wonderful though. He informed me that though 7 pounds was good I still need to lose more. Isn’t he wonderful? *I need a punching emote again* So as a reward I went & bought more clothes, lol. Jeans, skirts, winter coat, dresses, & I think I may even get some solid color t-shirt also.

Originally published at Amarantine.

If you don’t know God, don’t make stupid remarks!!!!!!!

A United States Marine was attending some college courses between assignments. He had completed missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. One of the courses had a professor who was an avowed atheist and a member of the ACLU. One day the professor shocked the class when he came in he looked to the ceiling and flatly stated, ‘God, if you are real, then I want you to knock me off this platform. I’ll give you exactly 15 minutes.’ The lecture room fell silent. You could hear a pin drop. Ten minutes went by and the professor proclaimed, ‘Here I am God. I’m still waiting.’ It got down to the last couple of minutes when the Marine got out of his chair, went up to the professor, and cold-cocked him, knocking him off the platform. The professor was out cold. The Marine went back to his seat and sat there, silently. The other students were shocked, stunned, and sat there looking on in silence.

The professor eventually came to, noticeably shaken, looked at the Marine and asked, ‘What the heck is the matter with you? Why did you do that?’ The Marine calmly replied, ‘God was too busy today protecting American soldiers who are protecting your right to say stupid stuff and act like an idiot. So, He sent me.’

Originally published at Amarantine.

This is why women should not take men shopping against their will.

After I retired, my wife insisted that I accompany her on her trips to Wal-Mart. Unfortunately, like most men, I found shopping boring and preferred to get in and get out. Equally unfortunately, my wife is like most women - - she loved to browse. Yesterday my dear wife received the following letter from the local Wal-Mart.

Dear Mrs. Samsel,
Over the past six months, your husband has been causing quite a commotion in our store. We cannot tolerate this behavior and have been forced to ban both of you from the store. Our complaints against Mr. Samsel are listed below and are documented by our video surveillance cameras.

June 15:Took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in people’s carts when they weren’t looking.

July 2: Set all the alarm clocks in Housewares to go off at 5-minute intervals.
